The Day of Peace

Synopsis

This is a self-consoling poem. The persona is assuring themselves that despite the challenges and problems they face at the moment, a better life awaits them in a place of peace and rest (which is heaven) after they die.

When I wake up in another city
where the moon and the sun walk in unity,
where everyone wears a robe of sanctity
and everything else in this world is vanity;
when an archangel of the Lord holds my hand
saying, “Come hither, to this new land.
From today, this city will be your homeland.”
When the angels meet me with a new band
to welcome me into a holy land,
then shall all my sorrows depart
and my soul shall rejoice at this joyful alert
of a new and wonderful life to start
with the angels, when from this skin my soul shall depart.

When I wake up in a beautiful town,
having my sandals and cloak of glory on
and my legs moving swiftly upon the lawn,
all my burdens and troubles quietly gone,
then wherever my body will be peacefully lying,
I know it will rest from all mocking and bullying,
and the diseases and pains that made my life hurting;
it will rest from all the hardships of this moment passing,
from the mistakes I made and the burdens I carried:
the skew life and the shame of the bad things I did
that tore my life apart like a corn among the weed
and made me scramble for the blood of Christ and his feed.

        It should be okay now since my posts are appearing in the reader. A domain change usually takes 72 hours so I hope it will work properly tomorrow. Today, all comments (37) went to my spam. It’s been quite frustrating trying to get back on track but I will eventually get there.

        Btw, I typed in Eugi’s Causerie in Firefox, Vivaldi and Google and it came up with no problems. πŸ˜‰
