FINALLY… here comes my 2021 wrap-up. It has been both a great and droff year to reflect on, droff because of Covid-19 that wrecked places around the world and yet great because the vaccines came in handy to rein in the rising death tolls (just received my first jab two days ago).
But the bug is still here with us, very much available during this festive season, and I appeal to all of us not to let down our guards. Let’s continue with taking the usual precautions: put on a visor, sanitize and keep distance where necessary.
This year, I met kindness in people, and I am much grateful for it. Hail to friends worth keeping like Cindy of Unique Times, Jeff of Develop. Inspire. Transform, Daphny of Daphny the Introvert Writer , Wic of Letters to Pogue, Ivor of Ivor.Plumber/Poet, John Coyote, Michael of King’s Gospel Online, Akwafrigeria, Eddie of Eddie Two Hawksβ¦ oh, the list keeps growing daily, all who have in various invaluable ways put smiles on my face here with their great works and kind compliments.
In fact, I’m even grateful to you who is reading this now, for having you as a friend and closer partner. Next year, Godwilling, we will do greater things together. I very much look forward to reading your inspiring, insightful and helpful posts.
This is my end-year message to we-all, one that many have come across in my comments: “Keep writing, keep spreading the love.” Do not forget that that writing you’re wondering whether it would be important to share could just be the beginning of someone’s healing. Share love in your writings, because as long as you do so, you are helping make the world a better place. Love is what we can use to change the world.
There are people, lots of people, who have had a rough past and just need someone to tell them how important they are, how much they still matter. And this you can do. Whether in writing or in person, spread love.
This festive season, and throughout your life on earth, put smiles on people’s faces. Everyone is needy, do not forget – it is only our categories of needs that differ. One could have plenty of material wealth in this world, but deep down their soul, there is a pit that needs filling. It could be mental, physical, spiritual or emotional. Another, on the other hand, could have the blessings of good health and family but lack food, clothing or shelter, or even peace so to speak. So here we go, we would be liars if we say we have nothing to give to others: we are all wealthy, and we are all needy, all at the same time.
If we master these and many others that you have all mentioned in your great blogs, then life’s gonna change for some, and ultimately for all of us.
I very much look forward to meeting you on the other side, when this tired ship docks on December 31, 2021 and we board another on January 1, 2022, Godwilling. Meanwhile, I’ll be reading.
I leave you with this poem I wrote earlier today:
A world with love
How wonderful,
O how meaningful
this world would be
with love in every mind
and concern for every kind:
the trees would see,
the birds would meet
and both would sing and dance to it.
With love in this world
and care in every fold,
every child would grow
without hostility in their heart.
With love in this world
and concern for not just gold,
every animal would know
that humans were once, their kin.
If every human being
Would release their clenched fists,
and if, every terror wing
would drop their guns and twits,
then every soul would learn
that there's actually no race,
that all we need is to make fun
and learn to impart grace.
If every heart would decide
to be meek and gentle,
if every neck that's crowned with pride
would say: I'm nolonger your mantle,
and if they would all bend
to give respect to love,
then every creation would find
a meaningful world, full of love.
Find the poem’s narration on my YouTube channel.
I got a mention in your post! I donβt get many of those so thank youπ And, yes, it would be great to aspire to touch the world with our writing next year. A wonderful thought to take into the coming year. Again thank you.
