Sunshine

He covered his face with a hanky
and cried with deep regret
for the person he was,
and for the person people thought he was.
He was different:
his feelings were,
his comportment was,
his appearance was,
his walk was,
and his voice verily was;
they carried this difference in them,
so much that he wondered
what he could do to change it.

His people called him a bad omen:
his siblings did,
his friends did,
his classmates did,
and his churchmates verily did;
They said he had brought it upon himself,
and hulled insults at him,
and so mocked him.
He cried more;
this was him,
an outcast even to the very people
who had borne him into the world.

Then he opened his eyes
and looked straight up to heaven,
and saw a face in the clouds,
and saw the face always in the clouds –
the sun,
smiling at him, shining bright,
so he stood, and the rope he was carrying
threw away into the hurtling river.
He’d live and fight.

We may not fully agree with the lifestyle of other people, but it’s imperative that we remain neutral in our talk and treatment towards them. That, is simply what true love is.

    1. Thank you many times, dearest. I’m glad you like it and are going to be reading it. It’s a feel of ‘the other side of life’, haha… a reality in our society that’s been hard for many to embrace, thus exploitation. 💕❤❤❤💕

    Heart-rending, hopeful and gorgeous all at once. This truly is what love is all about. We’re all deserving of being loved and accepted, regardless of the difference between us. We’re all unique, yet we’re all connected. This is beautiful writing, Lamittan. I wish more people could understand that we’re all in this together. 🙂
