Against War, Against Timonism

I’ve heard the sound of feet matching,
swords clinking and hearts shaking;
terrible war merchants rushing,
selling fear and death to the people
at the cost of their blood and wealth;
I’ve heard the rumbling of gunshots
and the tremor of artilleries, drones,
zeppelins, tanks and flamethrowers;
I’ve heard it all close to my door
and I’m cut to pieces with fear

for when we’ve treasured love for long life,
our enemies have sat alone in their squares
and decided to sell fear and timonism;
they are psychopaths, selfish and sinful,
looking at humans through their door-holes
and sending forth their own citizens
to kill without cause, and to die hence;
oh how I wish, that their hubris,
and evil plans would blow up on their faces;
oh how I wish, that all humans
would stand up against war, against timonism.

  5. Powerful and impactful, dear Lamittan. The last two lines of this piece touched my heart, while these amazing lines rang loudly for me:

    Brutal and crushing…and needs to be shouted from the mountain tops. We will never change as a species until we understand the ramifications of our own behavior. Thanks for standing up for freedom and love, Lamittan. I stand with you.

    1. I’ve usually believed so too. It takes each and all of us to change this society from the atrocities done in it to a less hostile space. Thanks for noting, and for standing with me in this, my friend Mike.

  15. It is difficult to believe that we are seeing aggression and brutality on such a scale in 2022. It is also amazing that a dictator can initiate such death and destruction without the support of his own people. Your poem is both eloquent and impactful. Thank you, Lamittan, for sharing this post. ❀

    1. It’s so depressing indeed the kind of things we’ve witnessed at the onset of 2022. I’m glad his own people are against his wicked operations, but one sad thing with such blood-sucking doctators is that they barely care about the opinion of their subjects. I’m certainly glad to hear that you find my poem eloquent and impactful, my friend. Many thanks to you. ❀
